Argie’s Coffee is an independently owned, Welsh based Coffee Distributor based in Bridgend offering an extensive range of beverage products. The company supplies coffee machines, coffee shop equipment and barista supplies to the public sector, catering trade and general public .
The company first decided to gain Green Dragon certification when they were required to obtain a UKAS accredited Environmental Standard as part of a tender process. Argies Coffee found that the Green Dragon suited them perfectly due to the five level system. This allowed the company to gain a certification that reflected the size of the company and its impact on the environment.
Through their progression through the Green Dragon environmental accreditation Argie’s have reduced their water and energy use and developed some additional environmental initiatives, including;
- Approaching Fare Share about accepting products past their BBE date; reducing unnecessary waste going to landfill.
- Developing new product packaging which has a lower environmental impact; including the use of recycled packaging and vegetable-based inks.
- Offsetting their carbon footprint by planting 4 broad leaf trees.
- Setting a goal to become Carbon Neutral within the next year.
Argies Coffee has made fantastic achievements and the Sustainable Business Services team at Groundwork were pleased to certify them against the Green Dragon for the second year running.
