Training to understand Net Zero – International Pheromone Systems

Background

In October 2024, Neil Street, Operations Manager at International Pheromone Systems, attended a two-day accredited Pathways to Net Zero IEMA training course at HQ in Chester which Groundwork arranged, made possible thanks to funding from the UK Government and delivered in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Environmental training

The course provided Neil with a strategic and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects their specific industry and work area.  As well as learning the background of Net Zero and the driving factors behind it, the course concluded with developing a sustainability action plan for International Pheromone Systems.

Following the course Neil successfully passed the certification assessment and commented:

Many thanks for the training provided, it was of great benefit to me and will allow our organisation to start correctly on the pathway to Net Zero. Many thanks for your time and help.

Additional support

After the two-day training course, Groundwork’s Sustainable Business Consultant Pratyush visited International Pheromone Systems premises for a tour round the facilities. Following this meeting, Neil and Pratyush took a deeper dive into how the sustainability action plan could be brought to life.

As a result, International Pheromone Systems have highlighted a few short-terms actions for 25-26 which include:

  1. Establish their current carbon footprint and Net Zero plan
  2. Installation of Solar PV
  3. Installation of EV charging points

Feedback

Neil found the training highly engaging and detailed, particularly in addressing how to implement a Net Zero strategy and gain a better understanding of his organisations carbon footprint. He noted that the tools and established frameworks introduced during the training session were invaluable for future planning and rated the training a perfect 10/10, describing it as an excellent course for small to medium-sized businesses and individuals.
