If you’re operating in the UK public procurement space, here’s a quick and important update: Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21 has officially been renamed to PPN 006. This is a naming change only, the substance remains exactly the same. The renaming reflects a broader legislative overhaul that came into force in February 2025.
Carbon Reduction Plan requirements remain unchanged: suppliers still must commit to Net Zero by 2050, report on Scope 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions, and submit a Carbon Reduction Plan via the GOV.UK portal. This applies to government procurement contracts over £5 million per year and also covers all new NHS procurements.
