Net Zero training FAQ

FAQ’s about our ISEP (formally IEMA) Pathways to Net Zero training

Who should attend this training?
This ISEP Pathways to Net Zero training is ideal for sustainability leaders, supervisors and managers across all sectors, especially those responsible for:

  • Developing or supporting net zero strategies
  • Leading sustainability initiatives
  • Managing supply chains, estates, or travel
  • Communicating climate goals

There are no formal entry requirements, though it is beneficial if you are in a role that allows practical application of the concepts we’ll cover.

What will I learn in the course?
By the end of the Net Zero training, you will be able to:

  • Understand what Net Zero means and why it’s important.
  • Assess risks and opportunities related to the Net Zero transition.
  • Learn greenhouse gas accounting basics (Scopes 1, 2, and 3).
  • Differentiate between Net Zero and carbon neutrality and learn methods to achieve both.
  • Explore science-based targets and Net Zero strategy methodologies.
  • Develop a practical decarbonisation plan.
  • Address emissions across the value chain, especially Scope 3.
  • Communicate progress effectively and avoid greenwashing.

How is the training delivered?
The course is delivered in-person, over two days – 14 guided learning hours. The course is delivered by Groundwork sustainability consultants, who are also qualified trainers.

What is the teaching style?
The Pathways to Net Zero training includes real-world examples, case studies, and interactive group activities to help apply the learning in practical situations.

How will I be assessed?
After the 2-day Net Zero training, you’ll complete a short online multiple-choice assessment (20 questions, approx. 30 minutes). You will take the exam in your own time, however we encourage you to do this within a few days of completing the course . A score of 70% or above is required to pass. If you require additional assistance with exams, this is something we can support you with.

What certification will I receive?
On passing, you’ll receive an ISEP (formally IEMA) certificate of completion, recognised across the sustainability profession. This will be posted to the address you supply at the booking stage once we have received the certificates from ISEP. Please note this could take up to 6-weeks after sitting the examination.
